Displaying a graphic image into a diagram

image manager - enterprise architect

How to display a graphic image (PNG, JPG, GIF, BMP...) into a diagram?

A graphic image can be displayed on a diagram thanks to a boundary element which plays the role of an image container.

The process to follow is explained below:

  • First, insert a Boundary element into the diagram from the Common pane of the Toolbox.
The Boundary Properties dialog is then displayed; keep the default values and click on the OK button.
  • Next, open the Image Manager dialog by right-clicking on the boundary element to display the context menu and then, by selecting the Appearence | Select Alternate Image... menu option. You can also open it using the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + Maj + W.
  • Now, click on the Add New.... button to import and add an appropriate image to the Loaded Images list.
  • Finally, select the newly added image available in the list and click on the OK button to insert it into the Boundary.
